Work Experience Placement Inspires Future Engineer

Last week, we were pleased to welcome 15 year old Harvey to the business for a week long work experience placement.

Harvey, who is currently in Year 10, has a keen interest in engineering and hopes to pursue an apprenticeship route after school. His placement gave him the opportunity to spend time across several departments including Quality, Machining, Welding and Design, offering a broad overview of how different internal functions contribute to our wider operation.

Harvey’s dad, Chris, is our Quality Manager and commented: “It’s been brilliant to see Harvey genuinely interested in how things work across the business. He’s always been curious about engineering, but this has given him a much clearer view of what a career in our industry could actually look like.”

Harvey embraced the opportunity to explore different parts of the business and said the experience has helped confirm his career ambitions.

“I really enjoyed the week,” said Harvey. “Machining was my favourite part. I liked seeing how parts are made and how precise everything has to be. It’s made me even more sure I want to do an engineering apprenticeship after school.”

We’re strong advocates for promoting engineering and manufacturing careers to young people, and it’s always a privilege to support work placements where we can that help raise awareness of the skills and opportunities available within our industry.
